Cruising and Broome

Whilst Broome is a popular destination for cruises as it opens their passengers to the Kimberley, their are a few unique challenges companies should be aware of. The tides can create some challenges for docking ships, as they can vary hugely in a 24 hour period. With tides reaching more than 10 metres on occasion.

Another consideration is Broome’s remoteness, being more than 2000km from Perth, Western Australia’s capital city. Broome can sometimes experience supply issues depending on environmental factors.

The Kimberley Port Authority (KPA) overseas the ports of Broome, Derby, Wyndham, and Yampi Sound. Facilitating a safe environment for trade, business an development.

Broome is also fortunate enough to have the Kimberley Marine Support Base (KMSB) building a floating jetty to help overcome the tidal challenges currently facing ships.
